Faculty, students, staff, and community members involved in McMaster University’s research enterprise are invited to participate in a series of opportunities to provide feedback on McMaster’s draft Research Data Management(RDM) Strategy.
The made-at-McMaster strategy was developed over the past year by a working group with pan-University representation and has been informed by broad campus consultation to ensure it reflects the needs and priorities of McMaster researchers.
Engagement opportunities for the campus research community will be offered throughout November and December to gather further feedback on the draft document. These opportunities include a virtual town hall, focus groups, an anonymous feedback form, and a roadshow with stops in departments across all faculties.
“The strategy document articulates a vision for RDM governance, services, community, and support across the institution,” said Jay Brodeur, chair of the working group and associate director of digital scholarship services at McMaster University Library. “We welcome and encourage researchers from across McMaster to participate in the feedback process and help shape the future of RDM at McMaster.”
McMaster’s RDM Strategy outlines how the University will provide its researchers in the areas of business, engineering, health sciences, humanities, science, and social sciences, with an environment that enables and supports best practices in RDM and ensures that McMaster researchers are prepared to meet the requirements of the Tri-Agency Research Data Management Policy, which uses an inclusive definition of data as: “primary sources to support technical or scientific enquiry, research, scholarship, or creative practice.”
