Data Management Plan Database

A Data Management Plan (DMP) describes how you will manage, store, secure, document, and share research data. DMPs can vary broadly across disciplines, methodologies, and data types. DMPs are a growing requirement for grants, and can also guide data practices for individuals and teams. DMP Assistant is a free webtool that guides you through drafting your DMP and the easiest way to start building a DMP.

Our database gathers examples from across the world including DMPs from the Digital Research Alliance of Canada, National Institutes of Health (NIH), Qualitative DMP Competition, DataOne, Digital Curation Centre, Liber, the Working Group on NIH DMSP Guidance, and UC San Diego Research Data Curation into one searchable, open-access platform.

Alaska Regional Office (AKRO); NOA Fisheries
This DMP was created for the Catch Accounting System, which aims to create total catch estimates for the groundfish fisheries. This DMP outlines the collection of digital numeric data, imagery, photographs, video, audio, database, and tabular data.
Digital Research Alliance of Canada; University of Waterloo

This DMP example show uses a case study of relativistic astrophysics and gravitational physics data to show how management strategies can support computational reproducibility in High-Performance Computing. Data are the inputs and outputs of the numerical simulation model.

Cégep de Sherbrooke; Digital Research Alliance of Canada

This DMP aims to collect digital, tabular, and graphic data on plastic production parameters, environmental conditions, and inspectional measures among other factors to optimize the industrial extrusion process.

University of Waterloo; Digital Research Alliance of Canada
This DMP aims to collect photographs, Raman data, and lab data to develop new and efficient techniques for synthesizing two-dimensional perovskites at lower temperatures.
University of Cambridge; University of Vienna (PHAIDRA)
This DMP was created for the DIGIWHIST project which aims to systematically evaluate information on public procurement in 35 jurisdictions across Europe. Data collected includes procurement data, and public sector data.
TRACK Consortium
This DMP was created for the TRACK project, which aims to benchmark and identify energy efficiency opportunities for buildings. The DMP will outline the collection of publication data, datasets, technology data, data models, pictures, videos, audio, interview data, and building data.
ER4STEM Consortium; University of Vienna (PHAIDRA)
This DMP was created for ER4STEM, which is a project geared towards educational robotics for young children. This DMP aims to collect audio, video, documentation, images, questionnaires, interviews, reflections, and observations.
ATLANTIS Engineering
This is a DMP for the iQonic project which aims to work towards improved manufacturing processes in the field of optoelectronics.
Florida PALM Consortium
This DMP was created for the Florida PALM project, which aims to implement a statewide accounting system.
National Science Foundation (NSF)
This DMP was created by the NSF as a template for Computer and Information Science and Engineering.
Neurofibres consortium; University of Vienna (PHAIDRA)
This DMP was created for the Neurofibres project, which works in the area of neurodegenerative bio-electronics. It aims to collect laboratory data, research data, scientific texts, and other documents.
University of Edinburgh
This DMP aims to collect technical documents, and interview data from modeling entrepreneurs, and bank workers. This data will be used in the effort of investigating how machine learning is being integrated into finance.
Universitat Politecnica de Valencia; LIBER
This is a data management plan from LIBER for the TWEETHER initiative which intends to develop capacity and coverage for a w-band wireless system.
