Data Management Plan Database

A Data Management Plan (DMP) describes how you will manage, store, secure, document, and share research data. DMPs can vary broadly across disciplines, methodologies, and data types. DMPs are a growing requirement for grants, and can also guide data practices for individuals and teams. DMP Assistant is a free webtool that guides you through drafting your DMP and the easiest way to start building a DMP.

Our database gathers examples from across the world including DMPs from the Digital Research Alliance of Canada, National Institutes of Health (NIH), Qualitative DMP Competition, DataOne, Digital Curation Centre, Liber, the Working Group on NIH DMSP Guidance, and UC San Diego Research Data Curation into one searchable, open-access platform.

DataOne

This DMP aims to collect data on water resources of the Rio Grande in an effort to create a geodatabase.

Texas A&M University

This DMP will collect genomic, phenomic, and bioinformatic data through observational and experimental methods in order to characterize the genetic trait profile of roots.

Christopher Newport University

This DMP will generate draft papers, software prototypes, configurational files, and other computational applications to improve cryptographic software fingerprinting.

New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology

This DMP aims to collect an array of experimental data ranging from spectral data to fluorescence lifetime data in order to evaluate various solar energy innovations.

University of California, Santa Cruz

This DMP aims to collect data on geophysical, pedological, and hydrological data to characterize "water storage and flow path behavior in the subsurface environments of two headwater catchments in the Appalachian Mountains (Western Carolina Hydrologic Research Station) and Piedmont (Duke Forest Research Watershed).

UC San Diego

This is a data management plan from UC San Diego which discusses the collection and analysis of data on plant ecosystems to study the response to a change in rainfall patterns.

University College Dublin

This DMP will collect data from social media as well as interviews to investigate how "users leverage social media to influence public and social policy".

East Carolina University

This DMP details how an unmanned glider will collect data on sound-making species and oceanic variables to ascertain which areas should be protected fishing areas and avoided for the development of wave and wind energy.

N/A

This DMP will collect different wavelengths of light to analyze star formation regions in the Milky Way.

Delft University of Technology

This data management plan from LIBER aims to develop a plan to manage data for a project that intends to develop methods and technologies for "redesigning the value and supply chain of water and minerals".
