Data Management Plan Database

A Data Management Plan (DMP) describes how you will manage, store, secure, document, and share research data. DMPs can vary broadly across disciplines, methodologies, and data types. DMPs are a growing requirement for grants, and can also guide data practices for individuals and teams. DMP Assistant is a free webtool that guides you through drafting your DMP and the easiest way to start building a DMP. 

Our database gathers examples from across the world including DMPs from the Digital Research Alliance of Canada, National Institutes of Health (NIH), Qualitative DMP Competition, DataOne, Digital Curation Centre, Liber, the Working Group on NIH DMSP Guidance, and UC San Diego Research Data Curation into one searchable, open-access platform.

This data management plan template is designed to facilitate group collaboration among a diverse range of stakeholders, including artists, researchers, research participants, social service workers, community organizers, and community workers. It is intentionally crafted in plain language to facilitate accessibility and understanding for all parties involved. Additionally, it frames the process as conversation as opposed to a more traditional form, fostering relational approaches to interdisciplinary collaboration.

This DMP aims to collect photographs, Raman data, and lab data to develop new and efficient techniques for synthesizing two-dimensional perovskites at lower temperatures.
The University of Sheffield; University of Vienna (PHAIDRA)
This DMP was created for the DyVirt project which aims to create an early stage researcher training network that will address the challenge of modeling the performance of engineering structures in dynamic environments. It will consist of the collections of computer-based  simulation models.
FENIX; University of Vienna (PHAIDRA)
This DMP was created for the EnDurCrete project, which aims to develop a new cost-effective and sustainable reinforced concrete. Data to be collected includes CAD drawings, images, audio, textual and numeric data, process info, and test data.
Purdue University
This DMP aims to outline data collection for a project focused on light towers under the Wyoming Department of Transportation. The data collected will include information about climate, wind, strain, temperature, and presence of icing. Photographs and drawings are also collected.
Temple University; Working Group on NIH DMSP Guidance
This DMP aims to collect audio recordings, surveys, and observations to revitalize and endangered language.
National Science Foundation (NSF)
This DMP was created by the NSF as a template for Engineering.
Brigham Young University–Hawaii
This DMP was created for the Indigo project which aims to use research and innovation to empower Pacific indigenous communities. The DMP outlines the collection of interview recordings, transcripts, survey responses, and related documents.
McMaster University; Offord Center for Child Studies

This DMP aims to collect questionnaires, personal data, computer-based tasks & output, ECG’s, EDA’s, videos, audio recordings, data analysis files, linkage data, interviews, and transcripts. This data will be used for the Promoting Healthy Families project, which will assess whether Triple P and COSP can help promote healthy family relationships.

University of Oregon; Qualitative Data Management Plan (DMP) Competition
This DMP aims to digitize data and create a database of semantics, lexicon, and morphemes to preserve the Nuu-wee-ya' language.
McMaster University

This is a student data management record created by the vascular dynamics lab. Although it was created for students working within this lab and is structured for kinesiology related research, it has broad applicability as an exit protocol for labs working across Natural and Health Sciences. 

Curtin University
This DMP aims to collect audio data, interviews, transcriptions, and interview notes. This data will be used in the efforts of identifying key principles for creating an effective Indigenous Youth program that will teach core emotional skills.
University of Manitoba; Digital Research Alliance of Canada

This DMP aims to collect clinical data for 1000 women for an observational study to assess the effectiveness of a cardiovascular screening program and identify any potential biomarkers that are predicative for cardiovascular disease.

This data management plan from LIBER aims to develop a plan to manage data for a project that intends to develop methods and technologies for "redesigning the value and supply chain of water and minerals."
