Data Management Plan Database

A Data Management Plan (DMP) describes how you will manage, store, secure, document, and share research data. DMPs can vary broadly across disciplines, methodologies, and data types. DMPs are a growing requirement for grants, and can also guide data practices for individuals and teams. DMP Assistant is a free webtool that guides you through drafting your DMP and the easiest way to start building a DMP.

Our database gathers examples from across the world including DMPs from the Digital Research Alliance of Canada, National Institutes of Health (NIH), Qualitative DMP Competition, DataOne, Digital Curation Centre, Liber, the Working Group on NIH DMSP Guidance, and UC San Diego Research Data Curation into one searchable, open-access platform.

Cornell University

This DMP aims to collect spectral radiance data from various illumination sources to create a field spectroscopy database.

University of Miami

This DMP aims to collect ecological data on a Florida Reef tract including RNA sequences, carbonate chemistry experiments, copepod specimens, etc.

UC San Diego

This DMP aims to collect data on the concentration of CO2 beneath waves in seawater flume.

University of Nebraska - Lincoln

This outlines best practices to include when writing DMPs. It shares examples of good language included in DMPs to highlight the importance of specificity in describing privacy and licensing, procedures, roles and responsibilities, data sharing, metadata, citation, and long-term archiving. It also gives examples of bad language in DMPs to demonstrate poor data management strategies.

N/A

This DMP will use information from police incident and investigation reports from 5 different jurisdictions in America to investigate the impact 25 specific demographic factors have on how a case is sentenced or whether it is charged.

DataOne

This DMP aims to create software maps in order better read and store HDF files.

California State Polytechnic University

This project will collect data from 60 interviews with Engineering Faculty to determine what assumptions they hold about students.

University of Idaho

This DMP aims to collect data from 3 surveys answered by students to determine the effectiveness of hands-on exploration activity designed to increase student proficiency in programming and coding.

Temple University

This DMP aims to collect audio recordings, surveys, and observations to revitalize and endangered language.

Purdue University System

This DMP aims to collect data on wastewater pharmaceutical concentration as well as pH, flow rate, solar intensity, and exposure time to better understand the degradation efficiency of these drugs.

Oregon State University

This DMP will measure the impact change sea levels and melting of the ice sheet has on the marine biologic pump.

Oregon State University

This DMP aims to collect marine data in order to determine the impact climate change has on marine fish and how they have responded.

University of Michigan–Ann Arbor

This DMP examines how changes in forest structure due to natural and manmade events like logging and forest fires in conjunction with other factors like climate, nutrient concentration etc. act to influence how fast trees grow, nitrogen is retained, and carbon is captured.

University of Colorado Boulder

This DMP aims to collect atmospheric data in East Antarctica like cloud height and temperature.

University of Nebraska--Lincoln

This DMP will collect data to "reduce the risk of hazard material transportation, reduce crashes, improve emergency response times for unexpected events, and increase the overall safety of system workers and users."

University of Colorado Boulder

This DMP aims to collect data along a stretch of the Canadian Artic to establish a baseline level of pollen that will be compared to current modern levels of pollen so that the effect of climate change on the Artic and subarctic ecosystems can be ascertained.

Carnegie Mellon University

This DMP outlines the criteria that University Transportation Centers must meet in their DMPs to conduct research projects.

University of Florida

This DMP will use data from existing datasets that are already largely public to conduct analyses and create computational models to answer the research question.

Baylor University

This DMP will collect genetic data from experiments to understand and provide a solution to the "increase in "insecticide resistance in mosquito vectors of human pathogens."

James Madison University

This project aims to design quality and inclusion into cyber-human systems. Their DMP uses the NSF Computer and Information Science and Engineering DMP template to outline their plan to care for and de-identify demographic, Ritvo Autism Asperger Diagnostic Scale–Revised (RAADS-R), and NASA Task Load Index data.

University of Alabama

This DMP aims to collect data from public safety organizations to identify and develop public safety innovations.

Colorado State University

This DMP will collect primary research data on field observations, lab analysis, simulation models, GIS maps, etc. to answer the research question.
